Support our Monastery

In the eyes of a world that values efficiency, productivity and consumerism, our hidden lives of prayer can seem like a waste of time, talent and energy. For those who believe in the power of prayer, however, this form of life is a gratuitous gift that is of vital spiritual importance for the Church and the world. It is a life worthy of praise.

People of good faith, who believe in the power of God’s Mercy to transform our hearts and our world, have borne witness to the centrality of the contemplative life by supporting it from the very early centuries of the Church. In our own day, Pope Francis says:

Dear Contemplative Sisters, without you what would the Church be like, or those living on the fringes of humanity ministering in the outposts of evangelization? The Church greatly esteems your life of complete self-giving. The Church counts on your prayers and on your self-sacrifice to bring today’s men and women to the good news of the Gospel. The Church needs you!
— Apostolic Constitution Vultum Dei Quaerere

As a young monastery, life is very much an adventure. Since our official opening in the Upper Squamish Valley in 2012, we’ve been very blessed by benefactors near and far. Since then, we’ve finished constructing the micro-hydroelectricity project which supplies our monastery’s energy needs, begun eating from our own vegetable gardens and fruit orchard almost year-round, and are currently building permanent workshops to create safer and more prayerful working conditions for our sisters. We are firmly dedicated to living simply and doing as much as possible with our own hands to make sure that your gifts are put to best use.

At the same time, we still have original building costs that we are working to pay off, as well as the ongoing needs of a growing community trying to become established in a wilderness area. We are also actively working and praying to acquire land above the flood plain land on which to build a space of hospitality to welcome those desiring a time of silence and retreat. Any gift that you give today will go a long ways, not just for the current community, but for the young women who will enter our monastery in the years and decades to come.
