Nuns of the Order of Preachers

We are Nuns of the Order of Preachers. Free for God alone, we offer a continual sacrifice of praise by our dedication to liturgical prayer, lectio divina, study and work. Our life is entirely shaped by the search for God.

We associate our mission with the "holy Preaching" of our Father Dominic, by the joyful witness of our lives. The monastery, built on the mountain, is a house of prayer that cannot be hidden.

Paradoxically, ours is a life of hidden fruitfulness. In solitude and silence we seek, ponder and call upon God so that "the Word proceeding from the mouth of God may not return to Him empty but may accomplish those things for which it was sent." (Is. 55:10)

A Foundation becomes a Monastery

At Queen of Peace Monastery we are Catholic Christian women learning and living the monastic way of life, walking in the footsteps of Saint Dominic de Guzman and the first nuns of the Order of Preachers. Our monastery is located near Squamish amid the beautiful Coast Mountain wilderness of British Columbia, Canada.

We offer a Monastic Welcome to those who are seeking a time of silence and prayer, by providing a beautiful sacred space for individuals to get away from the pace of contemporary life. Here they can experience the ancient monastic rhythm with its flow of liturgical prayer and silence. This is a place where the Creator of the Universe can speak to hearts in the midst of Canada’s awesome natural beauty.

The nuns offer a sacrifice of praise to God especially through the celebration of the liturgy in imitation of the Church in Jerusalem which was drawn together by the teaching of the Apostles and united in daily prayer (cf. Acts 2:42).
