Our Wish List

Sometimes our friends ask if there is anything in particular our monastery might need or find useful at this time.
We welcome the gifts of all our benefactors, big and small!
If you are looking for specific ideas for material items, however, the below are a few possibilities that are always helpful.
If you have any questions, please feel free contact us and we’d be happy to respond.
God bless, and thank-you for your generosity.

Garden

As the monastery continues to grow, we continue to improve the grounds. We have an outdoor vegetable garden and an indoor greenhouse to support our kitchen, as well as various smaller gardens and landscaping projects scattered around the property.

+ Current Needs

Tree saplings: linden, apricot, sugar maple, Japanese maple.
Assorted perennials and bulbs
Two large watering cans

Kitchen

Our kitchen’s needs are usually quite simple and change a bit throughout the year depending on what we are harvesting in the garden. If you would like to make a donation of food, but are not sure what we need, here are a few items that our kitchen goes through quickly all year round. Thank-you very much for your support!

+ "Evergreen" Items

Seasonal and dried fruit
Rice (brown and white), quinoa, dried beans and lentils
Peanut butter
Flours (white, whole wheat, rye, rice)
Sugar and other baking items
Canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce
Canned tuna
Eggs
Butter

Candle room

We make our own candles from donations of used candles and wax by individuals and local parishes. After melting and purifying the wax, we hand-pour a variety of altar candles for our own use, as well as a candles to sell in our gift shop. New donations are always welcome, and we are happy to receive both plain and coloured wax.

Loom Room

In 2017, a friend of the community graciously donated two gently used floor looms. Soon enough, words like "heddles", "treadles" and "warp" began flying around community recreation and scraps of paper with scribbled patterns could be found lying around the novitiate. Six years later, and one of our sisters has mastered the art of making beautiful wraps and blankets to sell in our community’s gift shop. Other sisters enjoy a variety of other fiber arts projects, both for sale and for practical use around the community. We are grateful for all donations of yarn, large and small, as well as “how-to” books, cross-stitch supplies, and other pieces of equipment.
